WIWAK eco-design was founded on the idea to provide a sustainable product development service through the life cycle and the environment and social aspects. This method allow to keep the product’s features while consumers have a better understanding about choices made on the product.
Designing is the action to find the idea to create an answer to consumer’s needs, mixing the influence of technique, art, and society background. The finish show one idea with a specific balance between each constraint.
Eco-design is the way to meet the consumer’s need and the Earth ability. So, the objective of Eco-design is to find a balance between the tree founder elements: Economics, Society and Environnement.
There is plenty ways to get an answer to every feature’s issue. I offer you my way to answer it, with an analysis of the level reached on each impacts.

The life of a product or a service is divided in six major steps: conception, raw material, fabrication, transport, use and recycle.
Usually, as a user, we focus on the “use” step that contain all the main features we are looking for to buy it.
However, a product need also to answer some other contraint linked the way to ship it, the available materials to build it, ... .
For example, let’s think about the huge life of your loved coffee maker. It was probably create in North America, then built in China, tested, and packed to be shipped. It was display on your favorite store and you used it for several months to make your coffee. When, it would brake you will put it on the garbage or in a recycle center.
The study of the life cycle could improve your user experience: to allow you to repair it, to have it built in Canada, ... .
During the design work, each step need to be understand and view on a global scale of the life cycle. In fact, all theses steps interact between each others, and one good effort on the fabrication could have bad consequences on the transport or use step.
Let’s describe some steps.
All the major decisions are discuss and approuve in the conception phase. Moreover, this step allow to determine the ambition on the tree pillars of eco-design.
Each industry had got different imperative about delays. However, it is possible to improve it, regarding to the size of the package.
We usually focus on the right way to work to design a product, but the bigger challenge is to design it in the way to avoid the wrong way to use it and to allow to fix it if it is needed.
Therefore, it is important to have a global view with a knowledge of each impact on each step. As you find a balance between features and price, you need to add two more factors in the equation.
Although, be reassure, your idea and project could turn sustainable easily. And you would have a new way to improve the user experience and care about the Earth needs.
